About The Position

NYC Parks is the steward of more than 30,000 acres of land – 14 percent of New York City – including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets. Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative tasks to support the Commissioner, Chief of Staff and the correspondence team.
  • Assist with Commissioner’s correspondence totaling over 15,000 incoming requests per year, which includes routing incoming correspondence to the appropriate divisions, following up and closing out correspondence in the tracking system.
  • Perform data entry tasks on custom IQ database.
  • Follow Agency customer service standards for answering and returning phone calls and interacting with park patrons.
  • Manage confidential information.
  • Assist with coordination of Agency ticket lotteries and distribution for special events.
  • Represent the Agency at internal and external meetings and take appropriate follow-up actions.
  • On behalf of the Commissioner and Chief of Staff, liaise with all NYC Parks divisions, other City Agencies and key Agency partners.
  • Assist the Chief of Staff with special projects as needed.
