About The Position

This is a responsible position involving a high degree of public contact, working with child welfare stakeholders and traumatized families involved in the dependency system. The Community Coordinator is a trauma informed professional who will work the Circuit’s Early Childhood Court Community Coordinator and judge to support local ECC activities. They will assist the Community Coordinator in facilitating collaboration among community stakeholders to promote and monitor fidelity to ECC Core Components and Best Practice Standards. The person in this position must have a strong working knowledge of Chapter 39, dependency court procedures, Early Childhood Court core components and/or problem solving courts. The Court Program Specialist works under the supervision of the Community Coordinator.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a major in public or judicial administration, business, education, social work, or a related social science and one year of experience in program administration or program evaluation.
A master's degree in an area cited above may substitute for the recommended experience.
Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

Works with the Community Coordinator and ECC Judge to implement and monitor the ECC Core Components and best practice standards
Attends shelter/arraignment dockets and BSO Staffings as needed to screen for new ECC participants, schedules orientations accordingly
Attends Court dockets and collects necessary data
Monitors referral and initiation of services for parents and children and notifies Court of process and service deficiencies.
Supports the Community Coordinator with scheduling and facilitating regular family team meetings as well as follow up
Supports the Community Coordinator in maintaining ECC data at the local level as well as the Florida’s Dependency Court Information System (FDCIS) and the National ZERO-TO-THREE Infant Toddler Court Program Database
Provides on-demand statistics & reports to Community Coordinator and Juvenile Court Operations Manager
Under the supervision and/or direction of the community coordinator may attend committee, community board, agency, and other professional meetings;
Assists the community coordinator in the planning of training opportunities for court teams and the dissemination of training materials
Attends ECC and child welfare related workshops, conferences and seminars
Monitor all cases within the division(s) to assist the Court in identifying pertinent issues and to ensure compliance with time standards.
Prepare daily dockets for the Judge(s), General Magistrate(s), indicating what type of hearing needs to be set next and the time frame in which to set it; additionally, the case manager will indicate on the docket any future hearing(s) previously set.
Maintain accurate monthly statistics of active and closed dependency cases by crosschecking JIS reports with AGO reports; submit to unit supervisor.
Track all related civil cases to ensure proper division assignment and prepare transfer orders if necessary; determine if cases is ready for hearing and if so, make appropriate referrals and/or schedule hearings.
Cross reference cases coming into shelter care and cases where straight petitions are filed to make sure related cases are transferred to the proper division.
Maintain statistics as to the number of shelter cases assigned to each dependency judge (each case manager is responsible for attending shelter hearings and tracking cases when his/her judge has shelter duty).
Attend shelter hearings, arraignments, dispositions, permanency reviews, and any other hearings deemed necessary to track progress of case and ensure subsequent hearings are set within appropriate time frames.
Monitor all related domestic relations, domestic violence, and delinquency cases, and inform court of status of related cases and dates of upcoming hearings.
Monitor all termination of parental rights cases; track continuances and reasons.
Coordinate all benchmark, extended foster care, and big docket hearings; identify all eligible children, contact parties, and schedule hearing dates and times.
Review all motions to reopen dependency cases and coordinates with ChildNet and the Court to ensure cases are appropriately set.
Follow-up with the Office of the Attorney General to ensure that relevant information is provided to the Court, that court orders are complied with, and that all pertinent documentation is submitted to the Court in a timely manner.
Participate in and complete Unified Family Court Cross-Training.
Timeliness and attendance are essential functions of this job.
