About The Position

At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. So why work at Kyndryl? We are always moving forward – always pushing ourselves to go further in our efforts to build a more equitable, inclusive world for our employees, our customers and our communities. The Role Are you a creative technologist who wants to bridge the gap between design vision and engineering execution, using experimentation to solve problems in new and novel ways? Then you’ll love working at Kyndryl Vital. At Kyndryl Vital, we are looking for creative, curious, empathic systems thinkers who want to tackle wicked problems with some of the best technical colleagues in the world. Kyndryl Vital is a global network of designers, engineers, writers, researchers, and strategists. We are bound together by a desire to help our customers make sense of complexity and co-create intelligent and adaptive experience ecosystems that resonate with their users and transform their businesses. We believe the next evolution of experience will emerge from the artful blending of behavioral insight and business intelligence into elegantly simple, deeply human moments. We are fortunate to work with the world’s best IT experts to ensure that we can not only imagine a great experience, but that we can build it, deliver it, optimize it, and sustain it. The Role A Creative Technologist is a cross-disciplinary person that bridge between a design vision and engineering execution, using experimentation to solve problems in new and novel ways. They Combines technical expertise with human-centered design to prototype and implement innovative solutions. Creative technologists blend expertise in code, hardware, and emerging technologies to bring ideas to life.

Requirements

  • Human-Centered Design: You have a deep understanding of human-centered design methods and mindset
  • Cross-disciplinary Collaboration: You excel at uniting design and engineering
  • Innovation: You can apply new applications for emerging tech
  • Rapid Prototyping: You can create context-appropriate, low- to high-fidelity digital and physical prototypes.
  • Human-in-the-Loop Patterns: You can design interaction patterns for approvals, escalation, rollbacks, and exception handling so agents act safely and users stay in control.
  • Feasibility Analysis: You can assess design’s technical feasibility, system integration, and implementation pathways
  • Storytelling: You can translate prototypes and technical insights into compelling narratives
  • AI and Data Ethics: You leverage AI tools and data strategies with awareness of equity, bias, and transparency. This includes responsible agentic AI patterns (tool permissioning, human-in-the-loop controls, auditability).
  • Tool Building for APIs (Agent Tools): You can define and prototype lightweight “agent tools” that expose capabilities via APIs (REST/GraphQL), including clear input/output schemas, error handling, and versioning so AI engineers can reliably wire tools into agent runtimes.
  • Front-End Engineering for Agentic Experiences: You can build modern web interfaces (e.g., React/TypeScript) that integrate with agentic systems—supporting streaming responses, conversation + workflow state, and human-in-the-loop actions (approve/deny/escalate) with traceable outcomes.
  • Agent Evaluation & Quality: You can define basic evaluation criteria for agent behavior (accuracy, reliability, safety, latency, and user trust), and iterate using test prompts, structured cases, and lightweight metrics.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (or equivalent demonstrable portfolio of work).

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3+ years of relevant experience (dependent on level)
  • Vertical domain experience (e.g., finance, retail, healthcare, industrial)
  • Experience in both enterprise and agency worlds
  • Knowledge and experience in IT infrastructure, architecture, and platform capabilities
  • Background in behavioral science, change management, or design research
  • Applied or academic experience with data science, AI/ML, or HCI
  • You can partner with AI engineers working in open-source agent runtimes and translate experience requirements into tool contracts, UI behaviors, and evaluation criteria without blocking engineering velocity.
  • You may specialize more deeply in: AI/ML/GenAI Phygital / Immersive Design IoT / Connected Product Design Mobile and Web Front-End Engineering
  • Advanced degree or certification in design, HCI, computer science, or related (e.g., MDM, MDes, MFA, d.MBA or equivalent) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, and stakeholders to shape technical concepts aligned to human-centered design.
  • Rapidly prototype interactive, testable experiences to drive alignment, learning, and value, including agentic AI-driven interactions.
  • Apply emerging technologies to business challenges, including AI/ML/GenAI (including agentic AI), IoT, and immersive interfaces.
  • Lead feasibility analysis and ethical review of technology choices, including agentic AI safety and governance considerations.

Benefits

  • This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans.
  • You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave, and paid time off.
