Job Summary: The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for coordinating, verifying, and maintaining provider credentialing and privileging records to ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. This role plays a critical part in supporting patient safety, regulatory readiness, and timely onboarding of providers by managing all aspects of the credentialing lifecycle with accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism. Why You'll Love Working Here Family-feel culture with collaborative mentorship Meaningful work that directly supports patient care Opportunity to grow your skills in a healthcare environment Live and work on the beautiful Long Beach Peninsula on the Washington Coast Benefits That Support You Medical, dental, and vision insurance 5+ weeks of PTO in your first year 9 paid holidays 8 paid volunteer hours annually Short-term disability coverage Retirement plan with 5% employer match after one year Employee Assistance Program (EAP) And more Education/Experience/Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred 2 years of experience in medical staff services, credentialing, or healthcare administration preferred Experience in hospital or multi-provider clinic setting strongly preferred Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) preferred or willingness to obtain What you'll do: Coordinate initial and recredentialing processes for all medical staff and allied health professionals Collect, verify, and evaluate provider credentials in accordance with hospital policy, medical staff bylaws, and regulatory standards Perform primary source verification for licensure, education, training, board certification, DEA registration, and work history Prepare credentialing and privileging files for review by Medical Staff leadership, Credentials Committee, and Governing Board Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date credentialing files and databases Track expiration dates and proactively manage reappointments and renewals to prevent lapses Serve as a liaison between providers, medical staff leadership, HR, compliance, and department leadership Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and payer credentialing requirements Support onboarding of new providers by coordinating credentialing, privileging, and enrollment timelines Respond to internal and external audits, surveys, and credential requests Maintain strict confidentiality of all providers and organizational information Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of credentialing and privileging processes and regulatory requirements Familiarity with CMS, National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and state licensing standards Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple providers and deadlines simultaneously Strong written and verbal communication skills High level of professionalism and discretion Proficient in Microsoft Office and credentialing databases/systems Completes all training on time. Contributes to a culture of Patient Centered Care. Contributes to a safe work environment. Demonstrates commitment to the team. Maintain practices of financial stewardship. Regular and punctual attendance required. Adheres to all company policies and procedures. Must be able to respond to emergencies. CPR certification required within probationary period.
