About The Position

The mobile crisis response team provides a 24-hour service, covering Aspen to Parachute, Colorado. The crisis supervisor is responsible for providing direct clinical services, clinical and administrative supervision, clinically relevant training to staff, and crisis-based data collection while assisting the crisis services director with program management.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field required
  • Colorado registration with DORA and licensed to practice independently (without clinical supervision) in the state of Colorado (LCSW, LPC preferred)
  • Colorado’s Behavioral Health Administration Crisis Professional Curriculum completed
  • 3+ years of experience in a mental health setting or crisis intervention
  • 3+ years of experience in case management and crisis planning preferred
  • Knowledge, education, training, skills and experience in a multi-disciplinary approach to physical and mental health
  • Excellent communication skills including diplomacy, tact and effective bedside manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to display non-judgmental attitude
  • Ability to maintain composure, remain solution-focused and respectful in all interactions with staff, coworkers, vendors and clients
  • Knowledge of DSM 5 diagnoses and symptoms
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills

  • Skilled at assessing level of suicidality in individuals who present for help

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Exemplifies professionalism, respect, and fosters open communication between different pillars of the Aspen Hope Center and community partners.
  • In coordination with the crisis services director, the crisis supervisor typically works a five day per week schedule
  • Unless otherwise required by the crisis services director, the crisis supervisor works from an AHC office two days per week. The other days may be covered from a remote location, so long as the clinician is within AHC’s response boundaries, from Aspen to Parachute.
  • Steps into any crisis clinician role to support, expedite or supplement crisis processes including, but not limited to, evaluations, crisis intakes, case management, fatality response, debriefs and processing groups
  • Acts as a licensed-clinician-on-call (LCOC), at minimum, two 24-hour shifts each week and additionally as needed.
  • Flexes Supervisor schedule to accommodate staffing needs, including occasional weekend coverage.
  • Assists in crisis coverage as scheduling needs dictate.
  • Attends crisis clinician meetings and serves as the facilitator when the crisis services director is unavailable
  • Provides in-person clinical and/or administrative supervision 1-2 hours per month, per clinician, in accordance with respective licensure requirements
  • Documents clinical and/or administrative supervisory notes in EHR database within one week of interaction
  • Participates in the creation and implementation of performance improvement plans (PIP) alongside the crisis services director
  • Assists crisis services director in the implementation of policies, procedures and operations which reflect best practices and comply with state and federal regulations
  • Staffs cases with clinicians and provides guidance on course of action during scheduled supervisor hours and LCOC shifts
  • Works with the crisis services director to provide data to partner agencies as needed
  • Regularly interfaces with community partner agencies and first response partners as a point of contact
  • Attends monthly touchpoint meetings with community partners such as Valley View Hospital, Grand River Hospital, Solari, Garfield County Suicide Prevention Coalition, etc.
  • Develops and makes available any resources for staff that will further develop their skill set and/or increase their knowledge for their position
  • Attends weekly school/crisis leadership meeting to ensure safe care coordination and transitions of students/clients
  • Understands crisis contract obligations and ensures staff maintains compliance

  • Main point of contact for crisis staff for same-day scheduling and shift changes (i.e. calling off shift)
  • Responsible for finding shift coverage when crisis staff members call off work
  • Provides crisis-related training to newly hired crisis staff in coordination with Crisis Training Specialist
  • Works alongside the quality assurance and risk manager to ensure clinical documentation and paperwork meet expectations for auditing requirements and contractual obligations
  • Completes chart auditing and signs off on clinical documentation for clinicians, as needed
  • Completes all clinical documentation for shift activity and enters into the EHR prior to ending a shift. If a shift spans more than 24 hours, documentation for the day must be completed before the next business day.
  • Supports clinicians in developing professional relationships with community partner agencies
  • Acknowledges and adheres to all policies and procedures of Aspen Hope Center
  • Begins the daily communication for the on-coming shift and facilitates shift passdown each morning
  • Point of contact for scheduling meetings and presentations with crisis team and community partners (including ridealongs with first responders or sit-ins)
  • Completes additional job related tasks as assigned by the crisis services director
  • Attends a minimum of 10 regular crisis team meetings in a calendar year. Meetings will be attended in person unless there is approval from the crisis services director to attend virtually.
  • Collaborates regularly with the crisis services director to ensure consistency across the crisis team by written communication in supervisory passdown.
  • Establishes and maintains strong interagency relationships including first response agencies, local mental health professionals, human service agencies, and psychiatric facilities throughout the state.
  • Annually, represents AHC at minimum one community/ in-house event, where AHC hosts the event or is invited to attend, determined in collaboration with their direct supervisor
  • Participates in four AHC workshops annually.
  • Service on one AHC Committee is encouraged
  • Completes additional trainings, assigned by crisis services director, based on program needs and availability.
  • Participates in Aspen Hope Center’s bimonthly (once every two months) Supervisor Training Session
