About The Position

As a Crisis Therapist, you will be part of the Mobile Crisis Team, responding anywhere in Klamath County to support individuals navigating acute mental health crises. In the moments when people feel most overwhelmed, your presence provides safety, grounding, and hope. You will conduct evaluations, assess risk, coordinate care, and help determine next steps for individuals experiencing urgent psychiatric or emotional distress. Your work ensures clients receive compassionate, rapid response support that honors their dignity, autonomy, and needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, empathy, teamwork, and the ability to stay calm and purposeful in unpredictable situations. You will collaborate closely with law enforcement, hospitals, providers, families, and community partners to ensure each person receives a coordinated and people first crisis intervention experience.

  • Strong crisis assessment and intervention skills
  • Ability to remain grounded and focused in urgent situations
  • Strength in communication, empathy, and relationship building
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community agencies
  • Competence in documentation and adherence to confidentiality standards
  • Cultural sensitivity and trauma informed practice
  • Must meet qualifications for Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) according to MHACBO.org:
  • Graduate degree in a behavioral science field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work)
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license
  • Insurable driving record
  • If unlicensed or not in the licensing process, must meet and maintain MHACBO QMHP certification requirements

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience with de-escalation in a crisis setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, clinically sound crisis assessment
  • Conduct comprehensive screenings to evaluate mental health symptoms
  • Determine level of risk following Oregon Administrative Rules and statutes
  • Assess immediate needs and safety concerns
  • Coordinate care and connect individuals with appropriate supports
  • Determine eligibility for services and make timely referrals
  • Work with families, providers, and community partners to obtain needed services
  • Monitor client progress and help connect them with community supports
  • Collaborate widely to support community safety and wellbeing
  • Provide education and consultation to agencies interacting with individuals in crisis
  • Participate in interagency staffing, crisis planning, and treatment coordination
  • Represent KBBH in community meetings as assigned
  • Maintain clear, timely documentation and communication
  • Document services and progress in the EHR
  • Keep client records current and compliant
  • Prepare written evaluations, DSM 5 diagnoses, and treatment plans
  • Complete documentation within required timelines
  • Collaborate closely with your crisis team
  • Share case information and provide consultation
  • Support team members during crisis events
  • Communicate clearly and consistently
