Job Summary: Custodians have knowledge, skills and abilities in keeping the schools clean and safe working both inside the building and outside doing varies tasks that keep the schools clean, sanitary, looking nice and to operate smoothly.

Requirements

  • 1 years or more facilities maintenance and custodial experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily custodial tasks in the classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchens and common areas. This includes emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, vacuuming carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, polishing elevator doors, cleaning elevator walls.
  • Perform weekly custodial tasks, including vacuuming sofas and chairs, and cleaning and dusting telephone hand-sets, desks, cubicles, computer monitors, window ledges, vents, fans and walls.
  • Handle and use cleaning chemicals and cleaners safely, productively and according to instructions to ensure personal, client, community and staff safety.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on facility custodial and maintenance equipment, including cleaning mops, changing vacuum cleaner bags, and cleaning and properly storing tools and equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as with touch-up painting, minor plumbing repairs, minor carpentry work, changing light-bulbs, and minor electrical work.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, hazardous situations and facility maintenance needs to the Facility Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
