Summary: Performs pre-analytical duties on specimens for Cytology Accessions specimens Process gynecological, non-gynecological and fine-needle aspirations slides Prepare cell blocks for Histology Operates centrifuges and other instrumentation in Cytology, performs slide staining, coverslipping and labeling. Maintains instrument and stain QC and performs weekly instrument cleaning. Assists pathologists /cytotechnologists as necessary Attending on Fine Needle Aspiration File and retrieve slides Maintain appropriate department supply inventory Store specimens appropriately. Sort vials for testing sent for molecular testing Aliquot specimens for CT/GC & HPV testing Cross training in Histology may be required
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Additional training in biology, medical terminology and laboratory sciences preferred
Responsibilities
