About The Position

An APSS DAS Technician (DAST) is responsible for the installation, configuration, optimization, and maintenance of advanced RF and IP-based communication systems for Government and Public Safety customers. The LMRT supports both Post sale deployments and ongoing service needs by ensuring robust and reliable communication system performance, including legacy analog, digital P25, DMR-III (MotoTRBO), and broadband systems. A DAST supports the PMO during the Post sale process by ensuring proper provisioning, cabling, installation, and system validation. The DAST provides guidance on implementation plans, installs and tests RF infrastructure, sets up and configures servers, and ensures network integration of radio systems. This includes subscriber radio templates, dispatch consoles, DAS/BDA systems, and IP network infrastructure. They may also be deployed to service calls as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of RF infrastructure technologies including Motorola P25 and DMR-III (MotoTRBO), both trunked and conventional
  • Experience with Digital Microwave Backhaul and IP Network configuration
  • Proficiency with computer networking (LAN/WAN), routers, switches, cabling, and firewalls
  • Ability to terminate and test RF cables for VSWR and return loss
  • Knowledge of subscriber template development and dispatch console systems
  • Familiarity with DAS and BDA systems, including setup and testing
  • Experience with logging recording systems and RF interfaces
  • Proficient with Motorola Radio Programming Software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Comfortable using communications test equipment such as: Communication System Analyzers Ethernet Link Test Sets TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set) Digital RF Power Meters
  • Strong self-management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent problem-solving ability in high-pressure field situations
  • Must maintain a professional image and strong customer service ethic
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel extensively as needed
  • 4+ years of experience as a system technician OR 6+ years of experience as a system technologist/technician in the field

Nice To Haves

  • Military experience (Ex-Military strongly preferred)
  • Associate degree in Electronics or Information Technology (2-year preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot complex RF communication systems including P25, DMR-III, and analog
  • Support implementation and upgrades of DAS and BDA (Class A/B) systems including passive and active setups
  • Program, optimize, and test subscriber devices, dispatch consoles, and RF infrastructure components
  • Perform preventative maintenance and generate trend documentation to ensure long-term system reliability
  • Install and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and cable systems
  • Provision and troubleshoot servers and RF backhaul systems, including digital microwave and IP links
  • Coordinate closely with engineering and project management teams to ensure smooth system turn-up
  • Participate in QA and site verification visits to prevent rework and support process improvement
  • Maintain version-controlled project documentation and inputs on As-Built drawings.
