Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Data Analytics and Business Intelligence Analyst! Our team works onsite in Idaho Falls with a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off. Data reports will primarily be designed and delivered using PowerBI and other Microsoft based technologies. A broad experience in data visualization and reporting technologies is preferred. INL is a science-based, applied engineering national laboratory dedicated to supporting the U.S. Department of Energy’s mission in nuclear energy research, science, and national defense. Requirements

  • Skills include data analysis techniques (e.g., A/B testing, association rule learning, cluster analysis, pattern recognition and predictive modeling), data analysis and visualization software (e.g., Domo, Looker, PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau, SiSense), object-oriented programming languages (Java, Python, R, Ruby, Scala, C++) and/or data engineering skills (relational or NoSQL databases, ETL tools).
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Ability to understand data structures.
  • Ability to work with data science platforms and software (e.g., Jupyter Notebook, Databricks, R, Python, Matlab, SAS, etc.).
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Level 1-Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science or closely related field. Experience in data science, data analysis, and data analytics tools such as Python R, SQL
  • Level 2-Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science or closely related field and 2 years of experience or Masters of Science degree. Experience in data science, data analysis, and data analytics tools such as Python R, SQL.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complex data models as the back-end engine for front-end visualizations.
  • Collaborating with a diverse data analytics reporting team to contribute to the design and implementation of analytics reporting capabilities at the Laboratory.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
