This team leverages data and analytics synthesized from across the organization to ensure underwriting strategies are effectively translated into measurable actions and outcomes. The Data Analytics Consultant is an individual contributor position reporting to the Data Analytics Director. Under technical direction, you will design, analyze, and model moderately complex organizational data to deliver business insights that drive strategy execution, operational accountability, and growth within a business area. You will support initiatives to implement automated scorecards, AI enabled insights, and individual account scenario analysis tools that enable underwriters in planning and executing CNA’s global underwriting strategies as part of a cohesive execution platform. The role also applies emerging AI capabilities—such as prompt driven analysis, text summarization, and decision support—to accelerate insight generation and enhance analytical workflows while adhering to CNA’s governance, risk, and responsible AI standards. You will partner closely with Underwriting and business leaders to translate objectives into actionable analytics, BI solutions, and performance metrics. This position enjoys a flexible, hybrid work schedule of 2 days per week in office. Candidates at both the Consultant and Senior Consultant level will be considered, position level will be determined based on qualifications. JOB DESCRIPTION: Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: Performs moderately complex analytical and statistical modeling to quantify business performance, evaluate operational changes, and support decision-making. Communicates findings and makes recommendations to management. Identifies, extracts, aggregates, and interprets structured and unstructured data relevant to analyses. Interprets data and develops actionable analytics solutions; monitors trends over time and delivers clear, actionable insights that support active management of the business area. Determines potential solutions using technical experience, sound judgment, and established precedents, balancing analytical rigor with business context. Designs and builds BI dashboards and reporting solutions that translate business objectives into meaningful metrics and support ongoing performance management and accountability. Identifies opportunities to leverage new IT solutions, automation, and advanced analytics techniques (including AI-enabled capabilities where appropriate) in support of analytics, BI, and reporting objectives. Operates with a moderate level of guidance and direction; demonstrates ownership of assigned work and provides informal guidance and knowledge sharing to newer team members. Partners with Underwriting, business leaders, and other analytical teams across the organization to translate qualitative underwriting strategies and business initiatives into quantitative, data‑driven work products, metrics, and execution tools. Participate in cross-functional initiatives and special projects that require analytical expertise, collaboration, and problem-solving. Responds to and fulfills ad hoc data and analysis requests, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and relevance to business needs. May perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of core functions of a commercial insurance company, including underwriting, portfolio management, and operational drivers of profitability.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and modern BI tooling, with awareness of version control and governed development practices.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI‑enabled analytics tools and prompt‑engineering techniques.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to effectively resolve moderately complex situations and issues; demonstrates a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, compelling insights that influence decisions and drive accountability.
  • Effectively interacts with all levels of internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team; effectively manages time and resources to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines with urgency.
  • Solid project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage deliverables, and support moderately complex projects from inception through completion.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related field.
  • Typically a minimum of four years of related work experience.
