About The Position

The Data Entry Operator II is responsible for operating alphanumeric, keyboard- controlled data entry devices such as a computer, key-operated magnetic tape, or disc encoder to transcribe data into a format suitable for computer processing. Job task requires skill in operating an alphanumeric keyboard, and an understanding of transcribing procedures and relevant data entry equipment. This position requires the application of experience and judgment in selecting procedures to be followed, and searching for interpreting, selecting, or coding items to be entered from a variety of documentation sources. The Data Entry Operator II may occasionally perform routine work of Data Entry Operator I.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent with additional courses of study in PC technology or Associate degree and/or technical school certificate.
  • One year related work experience.
  • Knowledge of PC based application software, (e.g., Microsoft Office preferable).
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of information technology concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of Internet practices and policies.
  • Knowledge of common office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Use of privately-owned vehicle may be required for occasional travel to other buildings base wide.
  • Repetitive use of hands is required in the form of fine manipulations while using a computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to communicate in verbal and written form.
  • Vision is required to transfer written information into electronic data bases. Prolonged periods of visual concentration required.

Responsibilities

  • Requires excellent customer service skills to answer questions on departmental services and functions.
  • Accurately verify records and track all student movement with appropriate database documentation.
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting daily, weekly and monthly reports to the Navy customer.
  • Researches, compiles and analyzes semi-complex to complex data. Inputs data into various programs.
  • Select procedures to be followed, and searching for interpreting, selecting, or coding items to be entered from a variety of documentation sources.
  • Maintain confidentially of sensitive information for both Goodwill and the Navy Customer.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Ability to organize and work with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.
