About The Position

The NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) funds the County Re-entry Task Force (CRTF) initiative to provide re-entry services to individuals released from prison and supervised by the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). CRTFs prioritize individuals assessed as moderate to high risk of recidivism and help them to address their stabilization and criminogenic needs to support successful re-entry and reintegration into the community. CRTFs collaborate with DOCCS and community service providers and focus on stabilization needs, service coordination and the provision of evidence-based cognitive behavioral interventions and/or employment readiness programs. Under the supervision of the Director, the Data Entry Specialist (DES) will be responsible for tracking and ensuring the integrity of data for the three County Reentry Task forces. The DES will receive, enter and review data in Fortune’s agency-specified data management system and/or other utilized data tracking systems. The DES will ensure that the data is recorded and determined accuracy. The DES will also conduct day-to-day quality assurance and ensure compliance with program/unit objective

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in public health, human services, criminal justice, sociology or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of data entry experience, quality assurance or related office experience.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of MS Office, including Excel.
  • Must be detail-oriented, computer savvy and organized.
  • Experience using office equipment.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a culturally competent manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurately monitor data of all client services into program and funder-specific databases.
  • Manage, update and maintain databases designed for tracking client information and services.
  • Read source documents and enter data in specific data fields accurately.
  • Resolve deficiencies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the team for resolution.
  • Collect, compile, sort and verify the data’s accuracy, duplication and completeness before it is entered.
  • Experience with quality assurance and/or quality improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
  • Research and obtain further information for incomplete documents.
  • Apply data program techniques and procedures.
  • Perform data integrity tasks by locating and correcting data entry errors, or reporting them to supervisors.
  • Comply with data integrity and security policies.
  • Scan and upload documents.
  • Generate reports, maintain logs of activities and complete work. File completed documents in appropriate locations as required.
  • Engage in processing documentation, staff training and regular quality assurance monitoring to ensure accurate database entries.
  • Collaborate with all program staff.
  • Conduct data clean up and organization.
  • Pay attention to detail as well as being able to see the bigger picture.
  • Able to think logistically.
  • Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
  • Engage in your own ongoing professional development; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
