About The Position

We are looking for a Data & Market Intelligence Intern to help build and automate Civ Robotics’ internal dataset of upcoming solar projects in the United States. This role sits at the intersection of market research, data engineering, and AI-driven automation. The goal is to identify upcoming projects before construction begins and map the key stakeholders involved, including developers, EPCs, and construction firms. You will research and collect project data, build structured datasets, and develop automated workflows that continuously discover and update new solar project opportunities. The work will directly support Civ Robotics’ sales, strategy, and market expansion efforts.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, GIS, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to turn unstructured information into structured datasets.
  • Comfortable working with large spreadsheets, databases, and structured data.
  • Experience using AI tools for research or workflow automation.
  • Curious and resourceful problem solver who enjoys experimenting with new tools and technologies.
  • Interest in renewable energy, robotics, construction technology, or infrastructure.
  • Applicants should demonstrate hands-on experience working with data or building tools.
  • Examples may include a project involving web scraping or automated data collection, a dataset or analysis project involving market research, a tool or script built to gather or analyze information from the web, or work involving AI tools or automation workflows.
  • Please include GitHub repositories, portfolio projects, previous internship or job experience, or any tools or datasets you built.
  • Candidates should be able to clearly explain what they built, how it works, and the tools used.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with web scraping tools or techniques.
  • Familiarity with APIs and data extraction.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Zapier, Make, or n8n.
  • Experience with GIS or mapping platforms.
  • Familiarity with SQL or databases.
  • Experience building dashboards or visualizing datasets is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Solar project discovery
  • Identify upcoming utility-scale solar projects across the United States using public data sources such as permit filings, interconnection queues, renewable project trackers, regulatory filings, and industry announcements.
  • Project data collection
  • Build and maintain structured datasets that include project name, project size in MW, project location with coordinates when available, developer, EPC contractor or construction firm, construction timeline, project status, and key stakeholders involved.
  • EPC and developer intelligence
  • Research and map relationships between developers, EPC contractors, construction companies, and renewable energy investors. Identify patterns in which EPCs typically work with which developers.
  • Automation and AI workflows
  • Design and experiment with tools to automate data collection. This may include web scraping pipelines, AI-assisted research workflows, automated summarization and classification of project information, and continuous monitoring of new project announcements.
  • Example tools may include Python scraping frameworks, APIs, AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, and automation platforms like Zapier or n8n.
  • Data structuring and dashboards
  • Build structured internal datasets and dashboards that help Civ Robotics answer questions such as which solar projects are starting construction in the next 12 to 24 months, who the EPC contractors are, and where the largest upcoming markets are located.
  • Present findings
  • Prepare summaries and dashboards to present insights to sales, operations, and leadership teams. The insights generated from this work will directly inform where Civ Robotics focuses its business development efforts.

Benefits

  • Hands-on experience working on real infrastructure market intelligence.
  • Exposure to renewable energy project development, construction technology, and robotics deployment in the field.
  • Opportunity to experiment with AI-driven research and automation workflows.
  • Direct collaboration with Civ Robotics leadership and operations teams.
  • High potential for a full-time role after the internship.
