About The Position

Viasat is seeking a motivated Data Science Intern to join our Integration and Delivery organization. This internship provides hands-on experience working with large-scale datasets to support business, product, and network performance initiatives. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop insights, build analytical models, and deliver data-driven recommendations that impact real-world satellite communications products and services. The day-to-day Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and business opportunities Develop and validate statistical models to support forecasting, optimization, and performance analysis Support data cleaning, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis (EDA) Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to answer key business questions Document methodologies and present findings to team members and leadership Internship Program Details: You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility. To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in: Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
  • To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2026 and August 2027
  • You must be available to work 40 hours/week for the full duration of the internship program as outlined in the cohort dates below. Limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars: Cohort 1: May 18, 2026 – August 14, 2026 Cohort 2: June 22, 2026 – September 18, 2026
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis
  • Experience with SQL for querying relational databases
  • Experience using data manipulation libraries such as NumPy, pandas, or Polars
  • Coursework or project experience in statistics, machine learning, or data mining

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., matplotlib, seaborn, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
  • Exposure to big data tools (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.)
  • Experience working with network/telemetry data
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly
