About The Position

The Design Engineer II is responsible for creating new and modifying existing engineering documentation. Responsibilities will encompass creating or modifying drawings, bills of material and other supporting documentation from a customer specification or sales order. Fully applies basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts to job assignments and exhibits technical and operational efficiency solving problems of moderate complexity.

Requirements

  • Excellent working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, mechanical assembly and welding procedures
  • SolidWorks, EPDM, or similar proficiency required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to recognize the application of multiple equipment components and their combined integration to achieve specific requirements
  • Able to manage urgent and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under strict time lines
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar required
  • Seven (7) years of related manufacturing experience (with BSME) preferred
  • Solid Works Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with lifting devices (cranes/aerials) preferred
  • Experience with electrical and hydraulic systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify SolidWorks 3D models and AutoCAD drawings for parts and assemblies
  • Layout, draw and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings etc., to assess factors affecting component design and the procedures and instructions to be followed
  • Consult with other employees to design, layout or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems
  • Design custom parts for integration into vocational vehicles to meet customer, technical, and regulatory specifications
  • Interpret customer specifications and sales orders to complete an engineering package of drawings and bill of material for manufacturing
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Work cross functionally to design, layout and detail components and systems
  • Assist other Designers and Drafters with required engineering expertise to complete design activities
  • Supporting Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales and Procurement initiatives as required.
  • Provide innovative design solutions to improve overall design/assembly efficiency and customer experience
