Summary: Mechanical Engineer needed to design and develop new products as well as modify and support existing products for Military Solutions group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience using CAD software.
  • Minimum of two years of applicable experience in design engineering.

  • Experience with PTC Creo solid modeling / Intralink/PDM environment

  • Hands on experience as a mechanical engineer, working in production, design and/or manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing process such as plastic injection molding, rubber molding, machining, or assembly.
  • Experience working with customers and/or suppliers
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products Data Processing) Software

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design new products and modify and improve existing products within budgetary constraints and customer requirements.
  • Select materials and in conjunction with Manufacturing, select methods to be used in assembly.
  • Requisition parts, tooling and services as needed.
  • Analyze customer returns for root cause and develop corrective action response as part of 8D quality process.
  • Provide technical assistance to Sales Department for quotations.
  • Assist Grayhill manufacturing with early build support. Partner in the core APQP processes including FMEAs, control plans, and process flow charting.
  • Actively support the product validation process by developing test plans, setups, and assisting with testing as appropriate.
  • Create 3D models and 2D CAD drawings to exchange with suppliers releasing into the Grayhill ECN process when appropriate.
  • Follow Grayhill's CAD procedures on drawing check-in/check out through PDM.
  • Recommend new products and/or modifications and improvements to existing products.
  • Support Grayhill sales and operations with new product proposals and existing product support as directed.
  • Interface with customers as necessary to clarify design objectives on projects and communicate updates to Sales Department.
  • Recommend suppliers and/or other outside sources for technical information as needed to meet design objectives and communicate information to Purchasing Department.
  • Accept or reject parts, assemblies and/or tooling.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Adhere to Grayhill release to production protocols (APQP process).
  • Coach and mentor associates assigned to projects.
