If you’re looking to gain hands-on experience at a leading publisher where creativity, collaboration, and storytelling come to life, ABRAMS may be the perfect place to start your career journey. As the first U.S. publisher dedicated to art and illustrated books—and an industry leader in visual and narrative publishing—ABRAMS is seeking a Design Intern to join our Children’s Design Team as part of our Summer Internship Program commencing on June 2, 2026. Over the course of this immersive, unpaid program (offered for academic credit only), interns will gain meaningful insight into the world of book publishing while contributing to real projects that drive our business forward. You’ll learn alongside experienced professionals, develop practical skills in your area of interest, and participate in opportunities designed to broaden your understanding of the publishing industry. Our goal is to help prepare the next generation of publishing talent while fostering a passion for books, art, and culture. ABRAMS publishes critically acclaimed and bestselling works across art, photography, cooking, craft, comics, interior and garden design, entertainment, fashion, and popular culture, as well as a wide range of children’s books—from board books and picture books to middle grade and young adult fiction. We create and distribute beautifully designed books with the highest production values through our imprints: Abrams; Abrams ComicArts; Abrams Image; Abrams Press; The Overlook Press; Abrams Books for Young Readers; Amulet Books; Abrams Appleseed; and our gift and stationery line, Abrams Noterie. We also distribute titles for Blackwell & Ruth, Booth-Clibborn Editions, Cameron + Company, Alain Ducasse Édition, Getty Publications, Lucky Spool, The Museum of Modern Art, Obvious State, SelfMadeHero, Tate Publishing, V&A Publishing, and The Vendome Press. The Design Intern will support the Children’s Design team with design implementation and assist with tasks that ensure an efficient workflow across all imprints. This for-credit internship offers a creative and detail-oriented intern the opportunity to work on a wide variety of book formats, including board books, picture books, middle grade titles, nonfiction, young adult, and graphic novels. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited academic institution. This internship is not open to recent graduates.
