Reporting to the Library Director, the Digital Services Librarian is part of the library management team and leads the planning, implementation, and support of the library's systems infrastructure, digital accessibility compliance, and instructional technology tools to enhance access, engagement, and learning. This position combines core librarian responsibilities (reference, instruction, collection development, and faculty liaison work) with specialized leadership in library technology and digital accessibility coordination.

Requirements

ALA-accredited or AASL-recognized Master's Degree in Library & Information Science (MLIS); Library Science (MLS), Education (M.Ed.) in School Librarianship, Library Media/Information Technologies or a related field
At least one year library experience in a public, academic, or school setting
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in a diverse academic environment
Commitment to high-quality, user-centered service with a strong focus on student success and retention
Knowledge of academic library operations, services, workflows, and current trends
Knowledge of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy and ability to integrate it into instruction, reference, and library services; proficiency in evaluating and recommending information resources for diverse user needs
Skill in leveraging library technologies, databases, discovery tools, and standard office applications; ability to learn and apply new technologies with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to assess and improve services
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

Experience in an academic or community college library, including instruction, research support, and user-focused services
Experience with library systems administration, discovery platforms, or authentication tools
Familiarity with digital accessibility principles (WCAG, ADA) or willingness to develop expertise
Skill in providing technical support and training for library staff and users on digital platforms and accessibility tools
Experience designing and delivering information literacy instruction in multiple formats (face-to-face, hybrid, online)

Responsibilities

Administers, configures, and maintains the library's core technology platforms, including the integrated library system (KOHA), authentication tools (e.g., OpenAthens), discovery services, and Springshare applications
Provides day-to-day oversight of digital accessibility compliance, including system and vendor evaluation, remediation coordination, documentation, and consistent application of WCAG standards
Provides frontline and back-end technical support for library staff and patrons
Supervises the Library Systems & Instruction Technician, coordinating technical support, troubleshooting, and instructional technology projects
Coordinates vendor communication and technical support in collaboration with the Library Director and Technical Services Librarian
Leads development of digital learning objects and online instructional content; collaborates with librarian colleagues on pedagogical design and assessment
Coordinates accessibility training for library staff; maintains training logs and generates compliance reports
Investigates emerging technologies and compiles system usage data to inform library planning and reporting
Represents library interests on campus committees and cross-departmental projects
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the department and college
