Role reports to: Sr Director Customer Category Advisory Location: North America, United States, Arkansas, Rogers Work Location: Hybrid What you will do The Director Category Management - Walmart is responsible for directing the development and performance of the Walmart category team. You will build key customer relationships, manage and coach a large category advisory team managing 15 adviserships/validatorships, oversee strategy and budgets, and report results with recommended plan adjustments to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university-level education in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in sales leadership or category advisory roles.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic sales or category plans that achieve measurable business outcomes at Walmart.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing or coaching high-level category professionals or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic initiatives that drive transformative category growth, create operational excellence, and improve sales performance across Walmart's retail ecosystem.
  • Innovate and implement data-driven solutions and advanced analytics to optimize category and sales performance, enhance customer engagement, and provide actionable insights to senior leaders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal cross-functional teams to design and execute forward-thinking category strategies.
  • Mentor and develop high-performing category advisory teams, fostering leadership capabilities, creativity, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Champion sustainable and socially responsible business practices within category advisory projects to align with Walmart’s corporate values.
  • Drive change management efforts by introducing cutting-edge technologies and methodologies that streamline processes and motivate teams.
  • Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key leadership at Walmart to enhance customer satisfaction and streamline category processes.
  • Continuously monitor departmental progress, evaluate resource allocation, and initiate corrective actions to ensure achievement of targets.
