About The Position

UCF Strategic Communications seeks applicants for a Director I, Enterprise Social Media Strategy. The Director I, Enterprise Social Media Strategy provides leadership for how UCF shows up, listens, and engages across social platforms. Situated within University Strategic Communications, this role is responsible for setting the strategic framework that governs social as a core storytelling, reputation, and engagement channel-- ensuring UCF's brand is expressed with clarity, consistency, and boldness at scale. In this role, impact is driven through strategic planning, enterprise governance, and insight‑informed decision‑making that elevates UCF’s social presence across a large and decentralized institution. The Director leads enterprise social listening, engagement strategy, and issues management across all main brand social platforms, positioning social as a proactive tool for building enthusiasm, trust, and advocacy for UCF's mission and impact. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Applicant must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer, as sponsorship is not available for this position now or in the future.
  • Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license.
  • This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional background in social media, communications, marketing, public relations, or digital strategy, especially within large, complex brands or multi-unit organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing enterprise‑level social media governance, including policies, standards, and playbooks that support decentralized units while maintaining brand alignment.
  • Experience guiding social media issues management or reputational communications in partnership with senior leadership and cross‑functional communications teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to set clear strategic direction and drive alignment across teams.
  • Proficiency with content strategy and creation, including writing, visual storytelling, and familiarity with creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Highly skilled communicator, with a demonstrated ability to express ideas with clarity and impact.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex institutional priorities into clear, compelling narratives.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead enterprise social media strategy, defining how UCF's brand, voice, and narrative are expressed across platforms in alignment with institutional priorities and brand standards.
  • Develop and oversee a university-wide social media governance framework, including policies, playbooks, standards, and guidance that enable colleges and units to participate effectively while in alignment with the brand.
  • Lead enterprise social listening and sentiment analysis, translating insights into strategic recommendations related to reputation, engagement, emerging issues, and audience perception.
  • Serve as the lead for social media issues management, partnering closely across University Strategic Communications and with university leadership during sensitive or high-risk moments.
  • Design engagement strategies that move audiences from awareness to belief to advocacy, using social platforms as a two-way channel for connection, responsiveness, and trust-building.
  • Supervise and provide strategic direction to social media staff, ensuring alignment among the internal team and across the enterprise.
  • Monitor emerging platforms, technologies, and cultural shifts to ensure UCF is poised to lead, remaining future-focused, relevant, and effective.
