About The Position

Vertex is seeking a strategic and analytical leader to serve as Director, Market Access Analytics & Forecasting . This role will lead a high-performing team to deliver actionable insights from U.S. market access data, including formulary/coverage data (e.g., MMIT), claims/utilization data (e.g., IQVIA LAAD), gross-to-net (GTN) forecasting inputs, and trade/channel analytics. These insights will drive market access strategy, contracting decisions, and performance management. As a trusted advisor to cross-functional stakeholders, this leader will translate complex access and channel dynamics into clear, data-driven recommendations for senior leadership and field execution. The role will also focus on building durable analytic capabilities, ensuring data quality, and driving actionable insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA/MPH/MS/PhD) preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in pharma/biotech, consulting, or analytics, with a focus on U.S. Market Access.
  • Proven leadership experience managing high-performing analytic teams.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. payer and channel dynamics, including GTN and contracting economics.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex insights to senior leaders in a clear, concise manner.

  • Expertise with market access data tools (e.g., MMIT, IQVIA LAAD/DDD/Xponent, Model N, Integrichain 852/867).
  • Experience building analytics capabilities (dashboards, KPI frameworks, forecasting tools) and influencing cross-functional strategies.
  • Background in trade/channel analytics, pricing, and contracting within U.S. Market Access.
  • Experience in the pain market or retail products.

Responsibilities

  • Payer & Access Analytics Lead analytics on payer coverage, formulary positioning, prior authorization (PA), step edits, and access barriers using data sources like MMIT. Enhance claims analytics to identify patient journey friction points, abandonment drivers, time-to-therapy, and payer-driven channel shifts. Develop executive-ready KPI reporting (e.g., payer wins/losses, restriction shifts, geographic variations) and provide actionable insights for Market Access Strategy (MAS), contracting, and field teams. Serve as the primary analytic contact for access-related business questions, ensuring consistent interpretation and reporting.
  • GTN Forecasting & Assumptions Management Own access-related inputs for GTN forecasting, including rebates, discounts, utilization impacts, and contract performance. Partner with Finance to support forecasting cycles (Plan/LBE/LRP), analyze GTN variances, and provide scenario analyses. Build forecasting tools (e.g., assumption libraries, scenario toolkits) to enhance efficiency, transparency, and confidence in projections.
  • Trade & Channel Analytics Oversee analytics for trade/channel strategy, including payer-channel mix, distribution patterns, specialty pharmacy dynamics, and contracting economics. Support trade/customer strategies and evaluate contract options, financial trade-offs, and post-contract performance in collaboration with Contracting Analytics.
  • Leadership & Team Development Lead and develop a team of Senior Managers/Associate Directors across Payer/Access Analytics, GTN Forecasting, and Trade/Channel Analytics. Set clear goals, ensure high-quality deliverables, and foster a culture of rigor, accountability, and business partnership. Recruit, onboard, and mentor talent, aligning team capabilities with evolving business needs.
  • Stakeholder Partnership & Influence Act as a strategic advisor to key stakeholders, including the Head of Business Unit, Finance, Commercial Analytics, Market Access Strategy, and Payer Field teams. Lead cross-functional business reviews and executive updates, delivering clear, data-driven recommendations. Translate insights into actionable strategies, tools, and narratives for field execution. Align priorities across analytics, finance, MAS, and contracting to meet business objectives.
