About The Position

The Director of Marketing for HPC (home and personal care) is incredibly passionate about consumer behavior, emerging trends and the universe of scent with a natural curiosity to continue learning about the dynamic world we live in. This person will collaborate with commercial and creative teams both locally and globally to inspire, inform and implement strategic recommendations for high profile personal & home care clients. This candidate must enjoy finding insights in the everyday, feel comfortable and confident presenting to both small and large groups and be naturally team oriented with leadership qualities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in brand, category, fragrance or FMCG marketing experience
  • Olfactive market knowledge / ability to smell preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with top executives at multi-national corporations
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task simultaneous projects
  • A passion for fragrance
  • Dynamic presentation skills required

  • Strong aptitude in PowerPoint, other presentation software and photoshop is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility to direct and manage all creative marketing aspects of client briefs including market analysis, trend presentations, concept development, olfactive stories, brand support and positioning, launch activation ideas, etc.
  • Create and present informative and inspiring multi-media PowerPoint presentations including brand-relevant scent-driven proposals to local and multi-national customers, often with top level executives in attendance.
  • Ability to see the big picture and create brand relevant recommendations. Distill trends into compelling custom concepts for clients noting white space opportunities in the client’s portfolio.
  • Pro-actively inspire and inform internal teams (including Perfumers and Evaluation) about emerging fragrance, cultural and lifestyle trends, notable product launches, and market shifts and translate to olfactive and product opportunities.
  • Maintain ongoing in-depth knowledge of global HPC category dynamics including new innovations, key launches of interest, overall brand activity, fragrance trends and retail activations.
  • Support and help guide strategic initiatives set by management and the commercial team.
  • Has a strong olfactive knowledge and language to support submission naming, ingredient call-outs and story-telling.
  • Develop an understanding of exclusive Takasago R&D technologies and CIMR tools and apply them to new product recommendations with appropriate consumer-facing language.
  • Work within the Takasago Marketing community (including all affiliates) to generate new ideas and encourage knowledge sharing and cross-category fertilization.
  • Additional responsibilities as deemed by Department head.
  • Local (metro-area by car) and domestic travel is required to attend meetings and give presentations (approximately 15% per year)
