About The Position

As the Director of Media Portfolio and Operations, you’ll lead the strategy, governance, and operational systems and process that keep our media investment engine running effectively. You’ll guide a team responsible for advertising operations, media portfolio management, planning workflows, and performance visibility while partnering closely with marketing, Best Buy Ads, finance, and analytics. This role is ideal for a seasoned people leader who excels at simplifying complexity, driving alignment, and building scalable operational foundations. This role is remote eligible, which means you will work virtually from home or another non Best Buy location. As part of this role, there will be travel between Chicago, New York, and Minnesota, estimated at approximately 10–25%. The specific work arrangements and travel cadence may vary by role and team, with additional details shared by the recruiter or hiring manager during the hiring process. What you’ll do Lead strategy, governance and oversight of our media portfolio across channels and campaigns Build and maintain operational frameworks, documentation, calendars, and workflows that ensure clarity and alignment Partner with cross functional leaders to gather inputs, align plans, and support seamless execution Oversee reporting, dashboards, and insights that guide investment decisions and performance optimization Identify and implement opportunities to streamline media processes, improve efficiency, and scale best practices Lead, coach, and develop a high performing team focused on media operations and portfolio management

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in media, marketing, retail, advertising operations, or related fields
  • 8 years of people leadership experience, including managing managers
  • Ability to lead complex media operations or portfolio functions
  • Strong organizational, strategic thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work with data, reporting tools, and performance frameworks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading media operations, advertising operations or investment governance
  • Familiarity with workflow, project management or portfolio management tools
  • Understanding of retail media networks or digital advertising ecosystems
  • Experience driving change and implementing new processes or systems
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, evolving environment
  • Experience with media tools such as Demand Side Platforms and media quality assurance processes
  • Experience with media tags to include DoubleVerify, Floodlights and IAS
