About The Position

As the Director of Medical Services at Blackbird Health, you'll serve as a key member of our leadership team, overseeing the medical aspects of our behavioral health services. Reporting to the VP of Medical Services, you'll lead a cohort of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and other medical professionals—providing both administrative and clinical oversight to ensure excellent patient care. You'll develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate across teams to deliver integrated, personalized, and comprehensive care. Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program
  • PMHNP-BC certification
  • Active PMHNP/APRN license in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Maryland - as part of this role you will be required to obtain licenses in additional states.
  • At least 3 years of post-licensure experience practicing as a PMHNP, including pediatric or adolescent mental health experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in an administrative or leadership role in a behavioral health setting
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practices in pediatric psychiatry
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team of medical professionals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and growing environment
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to behavioral health services

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Medical Services Team: Provide leadership and management to psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and other medical professionals. Manage a cohort both administratively and clinically to ensure excellent patient care.
  • Oversee Clinical Excellence: Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans that address the unique needs of children, adolescents, and young adults. Monitor patient outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that medical services comply with all relevant regulations and standards related to behavioral health services.
  • Collaborate for Integrated Care: Work closely with psychotherapists, diagnosticians, support staff, and families to ensure patients receive integrated, personalized, and comprehensive care.
  • Build External Partnerships: Develop and maintain relationships with outside medical providers and agencies to facilitate coordinated care and referrals.
  • Drive Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and identify areas for improvement in clinical services. Lead performance management and create improvement plans when needed.
  • Support Recruitment & Onboarding: Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new medical staff. Foster a culture of mentorship and professional development.
