General Description The Director of Estimating is responsible for overseeing all estimating functions across Prestige Land & Site Works, ensuring timely, accurate, and competitive bid proposals for land development, site work, utilities, and natural gas projects. The Director works closely with estimating teams, operations, and executive leadership to ensure consistency, efficiency, and alignment with company goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction estimating with expertise in site work, land development, and utilities.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams or department‑level responsibilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating for civil, site work, utility, and natural gas projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and cost modeling tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and financial acumen.
  • Commitment to regulatory compliance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the entire estimating department to ensure accurate and competitive estimates for all company projects.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized estimating procedures, tools, templates, and best practices.
  • Oversee comprehensive bid preparation including quantity takeoffs, cost modeling, risk identification, subcontractor outreach, and proposal development.
  • Review and approve all final estimates, budgets, and bid submissions for land development, site work, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure estimates reflect realistic construction methodologies, production rates, and resource availability.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date cost data for labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
  • Partner with business development teams to determine bid strategy and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with project managers on budget handoff, scope review, cost validations, and change order evaluations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and reliable performance.
  • Monitor market trends including labor rates, material pricing, industry conditions, and technological advancements.
  • Conduct financial reviews to evaluate estimating accuracy, division profitability, and cost‑to‑performance variance.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency, competitiveness, and operational consistency.
  • Mentor and supervise the estimating team, fostering accountability, technical expertise, and professional growth.
  • Oversee hiring needs, performance evaluations, training initiatives, and succession planning.
  • Ensure all team members receive proper tools, training, and support for safe, efficient, and productive work.
  • Promote a culture focused on safety, quality, communication, and operational excellence.
  • Communicate professionally with managers, teammates, clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Represent the company with integrity, professionalism, and leadership across all external interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet company needs.
