About The Position

The Director of Human Resources (HR) provides strategic and operational leadership for all HR functions within the organization, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and accrediting body requirements while fostering a high-performance, employee-centered culture. This role is responsible for talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, training, policy development, and HR compliance. The Director partners with executive leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals, supporting both clinical and administrative teams in the delivery of high-quality home health services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably in home health, healthcare, or a regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading HR audits, policy development, and multi-site HR operations.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to execute tactical initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and reporting tools.
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ) and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Planning
  • Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with organizational objectives and workforce needs.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support growth, operational efficiency, and culture development.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on organizational structure, workforce planning, and change management.
  • Talent Acquisition & Retention
  • Lead the recruitment, selection, and onboarding process for clinical and administrative roles.
  • Implement effective retention strategies, including employee engagement initiatives and career development opportunities.
  • Partner with department leaders to forecast staffing needs and maintain adequate workforce levels.
  • Compliance & Policy Management
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and EEOC regulations.
  • Maintain personnel files in accordance with state standards, accrediting bodies (e.g., CHAP), and organizational policy.
  • Oversee mandatory training and credentialing processes to meet regulatory and payer requirements.
  • Employee Relations & Culture
  • Serve as the primary point of contact w/ the HR team for employee relations matters, providing guidance on conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture that supports employee engagement and professional growth.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement recognition, feedback, and communication strategies.
  • Performance Management & Training
  • Oversee performance appraisal processes and provide leadership coaching to managers.
  • Implement training and development programs to support skill-building, compliance, and leadership development.
  • Ensure clear job descriptions, updated offer letters, and documented expectations for all employees.
  • Benefits & Compensation Administration
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, 401(k), and leave policies.
  • Partner with finance to develop competitive compensation structures aligned with market benchmarks and budgetary goals.
  • HR Operations & Technology
  • Oversee HRIS (e.g., Rippling) administration and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Implement technology solutions to improve efficiency, recordkeeping, and employee self-service capabilities.
  • Other Duties
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the CEO to meet organizational needs.
