About The Position

The Director of Market Planning and Strategy is a key leadership role in TexOma responsible for driving the Area's long-range objectives, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission, vision, and values. This position leads cross-functional, high-impact strategic initiatives that position the Area for sustained growth, innovation, and competitive advantage over a multi-year horizon. The Strategic Project Director serves as a thought partner to the AVP and the Area leaders and acts as a catalyst for translating vision into actionable plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree.
  • 10+ years of prior work experience (in addition to education requirement).
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional, long-range strategic projects in a complex business environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize data and insights into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, capable of engaging at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver results under tight timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and leads the design, execution, and governance of long-range strategic projects via market planning across the Area.
  • Supports AVP in translating Area vision into actionable strategic roadmaps, ensuring alignment with market trends, business priorities, stakeholder and customer needs.
  • Manages complex, multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring milestones are met, risks are mitigated, and outcomes drive business transformation.
  • Aligns with Area Finance Business Partner using financial expertise to develop an operating budget and deliver expected financial results. Understands the link between operations and financial outcomes, makes sound business decisions based on data analytics, and communicates realistic financial goals.
  • Analyzes industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging market opportunities to inform long-term strategic planning.
  • Partners closely with AVP and Area leaders to identify and prioritize strategic initiatives, ensuring resources are effectively allocated.
  • Works closely with Post Collection, Environmental, and Community Affairs teams on landfill expansions to include new greenfield, transfer stations, and collection companies.
  • Works with AVP on identifying and pursuing acquisition or divestiture opportunities that align with long-term objectives.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure buy-in, accountability, and effective execution of strategic priorities.
  • Track and report progress on strategic initiatives, ensuring transparency and alignment with long-range goals.
  • Serve as a mentor and leader for project teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
