About The Position

Yieldpoint is seeking an entrepreneurial front office investment professional to serve as our Director of Origination. This is a pivotal role responsible for leading the firm’s efforts in sourcing and onboarding institutional-quality counterparties who have a need to finance industrial commodities transactions. As part of a small team, the Director of Origination will work both independently and directly with the firm’s founder on key business processes and will have a hand in all aspects of business operations. The ideal candidate brings deep trade finance experience, a track record of originating high-yield opportunities, and strong operational judgment. We are seeking a hands-on, self-starting team player who prefers an entrepreneurial culture and is enthusiastic about the opportunity to help build an investment firm capable of delivering exceptional outcomes. This role offers a hybrid schedule with several in-office days each week in Midtown Manhattan. It also involves international travel several times each year to develop relationships and attend key conferences, primarily in Europe, and also in Asia.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field with a strong academic record; an advanced degree (Master’s degree, JD, or MBA) is a plus
  • 6+ years of post-undergraduate experience including hands-on experience with deal origination and trade finance at a bank or a fund
  • Proven ability to originate and execute high-yield transactions with institutional-quality counterparties
  • Experience providing financing for industrial commodities (e.g., metals, durable agricultural products, or energy)
  • Experience managing external service providers such as fund administrators, legal counsel, or compliance partners
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (we use Foundersuite); experience using AI tools to enhance workflow is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong business judgment and an ownership mentality
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—able to influence stakeholders and build trust across cultures
  • Strong relationship development skills; confident in reaching out, persistently following up, and nurturing relationships to assess mutual fit
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing investor-grade work
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate risks and solve problems proactively
  • Technologically fluent with strong Excel, PowerPoint, and data tracking skills
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and driven to build a differentiated firm
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • CFA or equivalent is a plus
  • Experience developing relationships with physical-commodity trading firms and corporates is a plus
  • Experience with credit evaluation, insurance, and loss mitigation; experience with legal asset perfection is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Deal Origination & Relationship Development
  • Originate financing opportunities that will yield double-digit annualized returns with high-quality counterparties (e.g., physical commodity trading firms, corporate entities)
  • Cultivate a pipeline of institutional-quality counterparties seeking trade finance capital for industrial commodities transactions
  • Conduct industry research, evaluate counterparties, and maintain cutting-edge knowledge of the macroeconomic environment
  • Represent Yieldpoint at conferences, meetings, and in ongoing relationship management with clients globally
  • Partner with the Managing Partner in meetings and strategic decision-making
  • Execution Oversight & Onboarding
  • Conduct transactions with the firm’s counterparties, coordinating pricing, documentation, and funding to ensure timely and accurate deal completion
  • Actively manage the firm’s portfolio of outstanding transactions, monitoring exposures, repayment timelines, and counterparty performance to ensure disciplined capital deployment and maximize capital efficiency
  • Monitor key credit and risk factors associated with each deal, including asset perfection, insurance, and loss mitigation strategies
  • Ensure all transactions and salient details are accurately recorded and maintained within the firm’s internal database
  • Lead and manage a thorough onboarding process for new counterparties, ensuring compliance, clarity, and alignment with the firm’s goals
  • Operational Management & Firm Development
  • Oversee relationships with outsourced service providers (fund administrator, compliance, legal counsel, etc.) to ensure high-quality execution
  • Maintain a comprehensive CRM system to track origination activities and manage the pipeline
  • Identify and lead key initiatives that support firm growth, operational excellence, and long-term success for investors
  • Contribute to the development of a strong internal culture based on accountability, continuous improvement, and high integrity
