OverjetSan Mateo, CA

About The Position

Overjet exists to improve patient care by bringing objective, AI-powered truth into dentistry. That same standard of rigor should apply to how we operate performance management internally. As Director of Performance, you will ensure Overjet’s people and teams are aligned to our values, accountable for results, and executing at a level worthy of building AI that clinicians trust with patient outcomes to improve oral health for all. This role translates our mission into measurable performance standards for each Overjet employee as we scale.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and running performance management systems in high-growth, high-standards organizations.
  • Strong judgment and backbone. This role will be a bar-raiser for Overjet employees demonstrating and instilling our values. Doing that will require you to be comfortable often telling hard truths and defending what’s right over what’s easy. It will require you to make recommendations having to do with both promoting employees and exiting them from the organization - heavy decisions that carry real weight.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate qualitative performance into clear signals and decisions.
  • Deep understanding of how People systems, incentives, and culture shape real-world outcomes.
  • Operator’s mentality: you care deeply about whether the system you are implementing actually works at making Overjet one of the highest performing organizations in the world and will iterate on it until it does.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate Overjet’s performance management system, from goal-setting and reviews to feedback and consequences, with clarity and rigor.
  • Partner with the CEO, Head of People & Talent, and senior leaders to define what “great” looks like at every level for each role - and make it observable and measurable.
  • Drive company-wide performance cycles (goals, reviews, calibration) that are lightweight, trusted, and biased toward action.
  • Use data, to surface performance trends, talent risks, and organizational bottlenecks - and push leaders to confront them.
  • Continuously refine performance systems to support scale, speed, and excellence without bureaucracy.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation and Equity
  • Hybrid workplace that provides flexibility, vibrant in-person workspaces, and the ability to build strong connections across all of Overjet - regardless of location
  • 401k plans with a matching program
  • Medical, Dental and Vision coverage: 99% employee premium covered, 75% dependent premium covered
  • Life and AD+D Insurance
  • 8 weeks Paid Parental Leave

  • Flexible Time Off and company paid holidays
  • Annual Learning and Development Stipend
  • Work from Home Stipend
