About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Director of Senior Programs provides strategic leadership and operational management for all programming, events, and enrichment services at the senior center. This position oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive schedule of educational, wellness, recreational, and social programs serving a diverse senior population. The Director manages a large network of instructors, coordinates staffing and payroll processes, assists with budget oversight, and leads marketing and community engagement efforts to ensure strong participation and financial sustainability of programs. CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION: I will support the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region’s commitment to child abuse prevention by: Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children. Completing all child abuse prevention training as required. Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members, or guests to your supervisor. The Y: We’re for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The YMCA has zero-tolerance for abuse. We will report all suspected and/or allegations of abuse to the state and federal law.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in gerontology, human resources, social services, recreation or equivalent
  • Three or more years of program management experience, preferably in a senior services, YMCA or other not-for-profit agency.
  • Strong leadership and staff management experience
  • Budget management and financial tracking experience
  • Ability to direct programs through marketing, and public relations, program development, and fund-raising.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, directs, leads, and supervises program activities to meet Senior Center objectives.
  • Establishes new program activities and presents ideas to fortify existing programs.
  • Executes strategies to ensure that program participants connect with one another and connect with the Senior Center /YMCA.
  • Attend and participate in regularly held staff meetings and trainings for the Senior Center and YMCA
  • Recruits hires, trains, develops, supervises, schedules, and directs instructors as needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff & instructors' performance.
  • Facilitates communication and provides leadership for employees responsible for.
  • Ensures that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. This includes updates to the website, posts on the Senior Center Facebook page, and the creation of flyers and posters for selected programs and events.
  • Develops and monitors program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Responsible for overseeing program registration that includes providing information for the data entry team and designing and printing class schedules three times a year.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  • Has sufficient experience with Microsoft office programs, Google office suite, Canva and ability to learn POS used throughout the YMCA branches.
