Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in software engineering or related technical field
  • 5+ years direct development and hardware integration experience
  • 5+ years dev ops with agile scrum methodology, such as SAFe 6.0
  • 5+ years direct reporting leadership of a team of technical members
  • Expert Python engineer with strong Linux expertise and preferred Windows experience
  • Experience with the following technologies either as technical lead or in a program management role: Python, Linux, Windows, Microservices, CI/CD, Full Stack Web Development, SQL database, AWS, Docker
  • Leads development of robust applications with potential web/cloud integration via RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Experienced across diverse environments—including native Linux development and occasional Apple platforms (e.g., Swift)—and skilled in CI/CD practices to ensure reliable, maintainable software delivery

Responsibilities

  • Direct a small but high-performance software engineering team across multiple R&D programs
  • Serve as the technical authority for software architecture, system design, data workflows, and integration with scientific hardware
  • Foster a modern, agile engineering culture that values creativity, accountability, and rapid iteration
  • Lead integration of hardware and software into seamless end‑to‑end systems
  • Architect and oversee development of advanced software systems—including imaging tools, analytics platforms, embedded systems, and cloud enabled applications
  • Work closely with scientists to translate research insights into performant, production‑ready software
  • Own the software roadmap and align it with scientific objectives, company strategy, and customer-based market needs
  • Implement SAFe 6.0 methodology
  • Guide the evolution of research prototypes into robust, scalable solutions
  • Partner with product manager and executive leadership to define scope, priorities, and deliverables
  • Support proposal development, customer demos, and technical presentations
  • Drive alignment across engineering, science, operations, and business development
  • Support the customer and product requirements, ensuring that the development team delivers products (MVPs)
