About The Position

This faculty role provides coordination and vision for the Academy’s arts program, including visual art, theater, music, and dance, while serving as a faculty member within the department. This is a 10-month faculty role with a partial teaching load and leadership responsibilities. Summer or additional responsibilities may be included for the right candidate based on experience and program needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an arts-related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching in an independent or comparable school environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership in directing productions or managing arts programming.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to student-centered learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Jr. Pre-K through 12th grade Visual and Performing Arts program, ensuring a cohesive vision and curriculum progression across visual art, theater, music, and dance.
  • Serve as a chair for Visual and Performing Arts, leading collaboration among faculty, facilitating alignment and communication across divisions, and supporting program development.
  • Supervise the performance and professional growth of the Visual and Performing Arts faculty, including providing evaluative input and participating in observation processes.
  • Manage the classroom/programmatic budgets, sponsorships, and needs of the arts department.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of performances, productions, concerts, and exhibitions in collaboration with faculty and operations staff.
  • Serve as a liaison to the broader community as an advocate for the arts and as a champion of the Academy’s programs.
  • Maintain a partial teaching load and fulfill core faculty responsibilities.
  • Oversee and build auxiliary revenue opportunities for the school that both promote the arts.
  • Build partnerships with local arts organizations, visiting artists, and cultural institutions.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to tell the story of the arts at Sewickley Academy.
  • Partner with Admissions to build relationships with aligned organizations to expand the pool of student artist applicants.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, and community partners to support programs and facilities.
