Gulfstream is seeking a Director, Programs – Flight Control Systems to lead the strategy, execution, and lifecycle performance of our flight controls systems across multiple aircraft platforms. This is a high‑impact leadership role guiding advanced technologies, supplier alignment, certification planning, and long‑term roadmap execution. This position provides leadership and oversight for assigned aircraft systems or platform programs, supporting the full lifecycle from concept through certification and entry into service. The Director collaborates across Engineering, Operations, Certification, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Support to ensure program objectives—technical, regulatory, commercial, and customer satisfaction—are met on schedule and within budget. This role supports strategic execution and alignment with corporate goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management, or related field
  • 10+ years of program/project management experience in aircraft design, manufacturing, or support
  • Deep expertise in fly‑by‑wire flight control systems architecture and emerging technologies
  • Strong capability in project planning, financial controls, scheduling, and risk management
  • Proven experience collaborating with suppliers and cross‑functional engineering teams
  • Ability to partner with Program VP/Directors on new aircraft development initiatives
  • Working knowledge of aircraft design, certification, production, and in‑service operations
  • Working knowledge of aircraft design, certification, production, engineering, and support operations.
  • Familiarity with Program/Project Management processes and in-service aircraft operations.
  • Understanding of aircraft terminology required; Gulfstream experience preferred.
  • A credit history check from a national credit bureau will be conducted for all candidates for this position including new hires and current employees seeking promotion or transfer.
  • This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute enterprise‑wide technology and certification roadmaps for complex fly‑by‑wire flight control systems
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Certification, Supply Chain, and Customer Support to deliver program objectives on schedule and within budget
  • Lead program phases including requirements, design, integration, testing, and production ramp‑up
  • Oversee program budgets, risk management, configuration control, and technical performance metrics
  • Serve as the primary liaison with major flight control system suppliers, driving alignment and issue resolution
  • Support product improvements for reliability, performance, and lifecycle cost
  • Drive consistent, repeatable solutions to in‑service challenges—including obsolescence—across multiple aircraft platforms
  • Capture and embed programmatic lessons learned to strengthen future development and certification programs
  • Supports development of program strategy, schedules, and budgets; monitors execution and reports progress to senior leadership
  • Facilitates cross-functional coordination across Engineering, Flight Test, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Certification, and Customer Support
  • Manages assigned program phases including requirements definition, design, integration, testing, and production ramp-up
  • Tracks and manages program budgets; identifies risks and supports mitigation planning
  • Maintains program configuration control and product specifications
  • Provides program updates and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Supports product improvements related to performance, reliability, and lifecycle cost
  • Coordinates Completion activities to meet business and customer goals
  • Identifies and tracks program metrics for performance monitoring
  • Supports implementation of tools and databases for efficient program management
  • Demonstrates strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Coordinates with regulatory bodies to support timely approval of certification packages
  • Engages with suppliers to ensure alignment on deliverables, schedules, and budgets
  • Represents Programs at internal and external reviews and industry functions as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
