About The Position

Venatore is seeking a Document Digitization Technician to support a government records digitization effort at Fort Belvoir, VA. This position focuses on high-volume scanning and digital capture of physical records and photographic materials into electronic PDF files within a secure environment. The role requires precision, accountability, and adherence to federal records handling standards while maintaining consistent production output and quality. This position is based onsite at Fort Belvoir, VA.

Requirements

  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at the time of application.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience operating high-volume production scanners in a professional environment.
  • Experience working in a secure government facility or handling government records.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain consistent production output while meeting established quality standards.
  • Experience adjusting scanner settings and profiles for mixed document batches.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting a government records digitization contract.
  • Familiarity with federal digitization standards and National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) requirements.
  • Experience operating Canon, Kodak, Fujitsu, or comparable production-grade scanners.
  • Experience scanning fragile, historical, photographic, or irregular-sized materials.
  • Experience supporting full lifecycle digitization efforts, including OCR processing and metadata application.
  • Prior team lead or production floor coordination experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate high-volume production scanners to convert physical records and photographic materials into electronic PDF files.
  • Adjust scanner settings and profiles to accommodate mixed batches of varying sizes, weights, formats, and paper types.
  • Maintain steady production throughput while ensuring image clarity, completeness, and proper file output.
  • Conduct real-time quality control checks to minimize rescans and rework.
  • Identify and correct feed issues, skewing, multi-feeds, and image defects during scanning operations.
  • Safely handle mid-twentieth-century records, including fragile onion-skin paper and other delicate materials.
  • Utilize carrier sheets to safely scan thin, damaged, or irregular documents.
  • Create high-quality photocopies of materials that are too fragile for direct scanner feed.
  • Exercise care and sound judgment to prevent damage to original records and photographs.
  • Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on production scanners.
  • Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot feed and image quality issues to minimize workflow interruptions.
  • Maintain strict accountability of sensitive and classified materials.
  • Track and document the movement of records between staging and scanning areas.
  • Comply with all facility security procedures and clearance requirements at all times.
