About The Position

The Part-Time Driver is responsible for the safe and professional transport of shuttle buses from the ABC Companies facility to designated customer or operational locations for delivery. This position does not involve transporting passengers. The role requires strong working knowledge of DOT regulations and safe vehicle handling practices.

Requirements

  • Valid driver license
  • Clean driving record meeting company insurability standards
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating large commercial vehicles (over-the-road driving experience)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • On-Call Availability - This is a part-time position scheduled based on operational and delivery needs and may require flexibility, including early mornings or extended travel time depending on delivery assignments.
  • Proficient in operating and maneuvering shuttle buses safely
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements
  • Ability to conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Mechanical awareness with the ability to identify and report vehicle defects
  • Effective route planning and navigation skills
  • Strong time management and reliability to meet delivery schedules
  • Clear communication skills for coordination with dispatch and operations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • High level of professionalism and accountability when representing ABC Companies
  • Safety-focused mindset with strong risk recognition and decision-making skills
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time (6+ hours per delivery assignment)
  • Ability to safely enter and exit a shuttle bus multiple times per shift
  • Ability to climb stairs and access elevated driver compartments
  • Ability to perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
  • Sufficient vision (with or without correction), hearing, and depth perception to operate a commercial motor vehicle safely

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate shuttle buses from the ABC facility to assigned delivery locations
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT and company standards
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately, including inspection reports and delivery confirmations
  • Communicate proactively with dispatch and operations regarding route status, delays, or mechanical concerns
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations
  • Protect company assets by operating equipment responsibly and reporting any issues immediately
  • Other duties as assigned
