Position Title: Business Education Specialist Classification: Education Specialist 2 Salary: $7,247 – $11,140 ($7,751 - $11,913 PERS) Type: Permanent, Full-time, Exempt We are seeking a Business Education Specialist to join our Office of Education, Innovation, and Improvement at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent position represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). This position follows a hybrid work model. Onsite presence will be required when business or operational needs are best supported in person, such as collaboration, training, or work that requires access to onsite resources. Employees approved to work remotely must have a reliable and secure internet connection and maintain a professional work environment that supports productivity. While working remotely, employees are expected to maintain the same level of performance, responsiveness, communication, and availability as they would in the office. What you will do! This position will support efforts by and between ODE and local school districts, education service districts, and community colleges in implementing research-based, innovative Programs of Study based on Oregon Skill Sets that integrate academic and career and technical education. This position provides expertise in the Business Career Area. This position is responsible for assigned portions of the CTE State Plan Implementation and other CTE and secondary/post-secondary alignment work for EII. Typical duties include: Evaluate the effectiveness of Programs of Study in the area of Business by leading and analyzing trends in student achievement data, student enrollment, retention, and program completion, and transitions in the Business and Management Career Area; this includes correlating program enrollment and completion data with trends in workforce needs and providing information and technical assistance to secondary and postsecondary programs, workforce stakeholders, and the Oregon Legislature. Lead and facilitate an educator professional learning community for Business educators to increase regional capacity building and improve the delivery, design, and continuous improvement of CTE Programs of Study. Provide training to CTE Regional Coordinators and Business educators on the Statewide Program of Study framework, application process, and skill sets. Build and foster partnerships with teachers, administrators, CTE Regional Coordinators, and community college staff to leverage available resources, including federal funding, for expanding school-wide and district-wide capacity to improve efforts to support College and Career Readiness for high school graduation and transition to further education and employment. Collaborate with ODE’s internal offices, including OEDI, OTLA, and OESO, and serve as ODE’s liaison and consultant to the BusinessCareer Area student leadership organizations, to align and integrate efforts around college and career readiness, diploma requirements, and the Oregon Skill Sets; and to provide leadership for developing a system of resource alignment to assist districts in providing culturally relevant and responsive intervention, prevention, and student support which integrates special and general education services.
