Primary Function/General Purpose of Position Performs 12 and 18 lead ECG, rhythm strips with minimal artifact and high quality. Documents and processes for interpretation by cardiologist, following department policies and procedures. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described within. Essential Job Functions ​Verifies the patient’s name armband to the order requisition, ensuring that the correct patient receives the test. Applies electrodes to the chest and extremity areas, adhering to the standards established for proper lead placement, utilizing alternate sites for lead placement when appropriate and adhering to the standards of counting the intercostal spaces for each patient ensuring proper lead placement. Prepares the patient’s chest area (shave, clean, abrade) when needed to obtain high quality tracings. Performs, transmits, and processes EKGs. Performs Holter Monitoring procedures. This entails application and disconnection of Holter monitors. Explains to the patient how to maintain the patient’s diary (record keeping) of the symptoms and events experienced. Performs Event Monitor procedures. This entails application, receiving post event transmissions. Instructs the patient how to perform event-recording transmissions. Maintains equipment in clean and proper working condition and notifies the supervisor, Bio-Medical department or designated personnel of malfunctioning equipment. Notifies manager of needed supplies. Participates in cross training and orienting new employees to the department. Requirements

  • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required)
  • High school graduate or GED (required)
  • Use and comprehend basic computer applications and diagnose common EKG equipment problems.
