About The Position

As a member of the Engineering staff, the Specialist will work with minimal direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to developing, qualifying, and producing electric thrusters for space flight missions. They will guide the successful completion of major projects and may function as a program technical team leader. The Engineering Specialist will act as an external spokesperson for the organization on matters pertaining to electric propulsion. They will serve as a technical authority and provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical expertise in electric propulsion and knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Experience with electric propulsion hardware and test.
  • Possess an understanding of plasma physics and material science and their practical application to electric thruster design and operation.
  • Experience working in a team environment and excellent written and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, prepares for, and supports production and testing of electric thrusters.
  • Uses engineering and scientific principles to prevent, investigate, and resolve hardware and process anomalies.
  • Leads research and development of advanced thrusters and processes including design and engineering analyses.
  • Leads project or program teams to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and enterprise objectives.
