Position Summary The Electrical Assistant Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all electrical field operations on assigned projects. This role provides leadership to general foreman, foremen and crews, ensures work is executed safely, productively, and in accordance with contract documents, and serves as the primary field representative for the electrical contractor. The Assistant Superintendent plays a critical role in manpower planning, scheduling, quality control, and coordination with project management and other trades. This position supports a variety of project types, including mission critical, data center, and commercial electrical construction. This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience in electrical construction.
  • Journeyman Electrician (JW) license.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role such as superintendent, general foreman or foreman.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installation methods, sequencing, and productivity planning.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as an Electrical Superintendent, General Foreman on large-scale commercial, mission critical, or data center projects.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling tools, daily reporting systems, and digital field tools.
  • Experience coordinating with VDC, prefab, or commissioning teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and support electrical general foremen, foremen, lead electricians, and field crews.
  • Plan, coordinate, and sequence electrical work to meet project schedules and milestones.
  • Provide clear direction on installation methods, productivity expectations, and safety requirements.
  • Mentor foremen and electricians, supporting workforce development and performance improvement.
  • Enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Lead daily job hazard analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Ensure all electrical installations meet quality standards, NEC requirements, and project specifications.
  • Identify and correct deficiencies, rework, and quality issues proactively.
  • Coordinate manpower loading, crew sizes, and work assignments based on project needs.
  • Track labor productivity and provide input on labor forecasts and recovery plans.
  • Support schedule development and short-interval planning in coordination with project management.
  • Coordinate electrical work with other trades, general contractors, inspectors, and client representatives.
  • Participate in coordination meetings, subcontractor meetings, and planning sessions.
  • Communicate field progress, constraints, and material needs to project managers and superintendents.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, staging, and inventory to support uninterrupted field operations.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and lifts are available, maintained, and used properly.
  • Support prefabrication and material kitting efforts where applicable.
  • Support accurate daily reports, manpower tracking, and progress documentation.
  • Assist with layout, redlines, and as-built documentation as required.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and turnover activities from a field execution standpoint.
  • Performs other duties as needed to support projects, operations, and the department.
