This is a hands‑on, field‑based role responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing many motors, generators, transformers, and high‑voltage equipment. With a focus on preventive maintenance, safety, and operational readiness, this position is necessary to sustaining plant performance and long‑term reliability.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of journeyman electrician experience.
  • Prior experience in a power plant, heavy industrial facility, or relevant military maintenance role.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and installing motors, generators, transformers, switches, and control systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with 480V–13.8kV systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical system isolations and high‑voltage safety protocols.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical procedures.
  • Computer skills for documentation, communication, and data entry.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma or trade school certificate required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and systems, including:
  • Motors
  • Generators
  • Transformers
  • Switches
  • Control equipment
  • Wiring and associated electrical components
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment ranging from 480V to 13.8kV.
  • Support basic high‑voltage switchyard maintenance while following all electrical safety standards.
  • Complete electrical system isolations in compliance with plant, OSHA, and industry standards.
  • Identify equipment issues, determine root causes, and implement safe repairs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, logs, records, and reports.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support station needs.
  • Communicate equipment status, risks, and recommendations to supervisors and team members.
  • Provide training or guidance on electrical safety programs and best practices.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory procedures.
  • Support outage work, emergency response needs, and plant improvement projects.
