About The Position

Electricians are expected to install and repair electrical systems and electrical and electronic components on luxury yachts. They must be able to work with outside contractors. Must have knowledge to adjust and troubleshoot all electrical and electronic equipment as needed during the entire construction phase and any jobs as may be requested by the owners at the time of delivery. A level 4 employee is expected to have demonstrated leadership and technical skills as a level 3 employee and is a uniquely trusted subject matter expert within the Electrical department, able to tackle our most challenging tasks and driving forward progress that the levels prior would not be able to do on their own.

Requirements

  • All skill level 1 through 3 qualifications and requirements
  • Possess a background consistent with requirements for skill level 4

Responsibilities

  • Perform all Level 3 Electrician duties and responsibilities as necessary in support of the company’s goals and commitments.
  • Procure stock and boat specific materials by obtaining estimates.
  • Estimate stock needs and place orders for materials.
  • Research and test new products or procedures.
  • Coordinate information to and from engineering and other departments to assess what is required of the electrical department for projects.
  • Follow up on the progress of electrical projects and assist in problem solving.
  • Communicate with other departments concerning problems related to materials, technical requirements, staffing, scheduling, work coordination, etc.
  • Provide input regarding daily timesheet reviews.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • With the Electrical Supervisor plan and coordinate work in support of the production schedules for the electricians on a daily, weekly, and long-term basis to:
  • Determine electrical personnel requirements for each project.
  • Determine support requirements from other departments
  • Provide subcontractor support where planned or required
  • Ensure project milestones are met
  • Evaluate progress and provide estimates of work hours remaining and completion dates
  • Identify material requirements, scheduling and delivery status verification
  • Assist the Value Stream Manager with electrician evaluations by submitting input on employee performance and attitude.
  • Work with the Value Stream Manager, Quality Systems Manager, and Warranty Manager to identify and implement strategies to:
  • Determine equipment, system, and process improvements.
  • Determine ways to control waste.
  • Encourage ideas and innovations to control production costs and reduce warranty issues.
  • Resolve problems and prevent recurring issues.
  • Work with engineering, value stream manager and other supervisors to:
  • Ensure equipment, furnishings, piping, and wiring are installed correctly to enable proper maintenance and maintain the vessel’s design characteristics.
  • Ensure detailed information necessary to complete tasks is available through prints and direct communication with the Engineering Department.
  • Ensure production drawings are reviewed prior to construction and feedback regarding clarity, content, ideas or issues are provided.
  • Provide technical support as required.
  • Ensure the electrical work is in accordance with Burger Boat Company standards of quality and workmanship.
  • Ensure all equipment and furnishings, whether installed or awaiting installation, are properly protected regardless of who is responsible for the area.
  • Ensure workspaces are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Maintain and protect production drawings and ensure only current revisions are used for production work.
  • Train and mentor for assigned personnel.
