About The Position

This position is responsible for delivering district
counseling curriculum and working with students in classroom, group, and
individual settings.

This position is expected to assist students with academic and social emotional
learning concerns as well as instruct and advise students on individual and
social development.

This position is part of an Elementary School team and reports to Elementary
School Principal.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in counseling.
• Kansas Board of Education School Specialist License.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• High degree of motivation, responsibility and confidentiality
• Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment
• Highly collaborative team player
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results

Responsibilities

• Assist with students’ concerns regarding academic, emotional or social difficulties.
• Collaborate and consult with parents, teachers, other educators and community resources on behalf of students.
• Facilitate prevention programs.
• Provide planned, short-term and goal-focused individual counseling.
• Provide support and assistance to students and families in crisis and emergency situations.
• Refer students to community-based mental health resources as needed.
