Role Definition The Connectivity & Service Solutions Division is seeking an embedded systems architect to lead the technical implementation of the Remote Service solution (Over-the-Air / OTA), specifically, an application programming interface (API) to Remote Troubleshoot features such as Remote Service Tests. Caterpillar and Cat® dealers provide customers with excellent technology offerings and premium service. Depending on the product configuration and service choices, Remote Service empowers them with a suite of capabilities including remote software updates, remote diagnostics, and remote service tests

Requirements

  • Requires a degree in an accredited Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science curriculum.
  • Typically have 10+ years of experience in embedded software development
  • Extensive Experience with Back-end software development
  • Experience developing for the Linux platform with the C and C++ programming languages
  • Experience with multithreading and object-oriented analysis and design methodologies for embedded applications
  • Experience with product development in an Agile environment
  • Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design.
  • Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
  • Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Continuous software architecture improvement
  • Collaborating with Software Developers on source code reviews
  • Ensure software follows defined technical direction
  • Ensure right technical solution to solve the problem
  • Commitment to solving a complex problem by clearly defining logical work blocks, sets realistic objectives and vision for the team to achieve
  • Lead the technical development efforts for systems and subsystems
  • Provide direction to a group of technical people for design, analysis and development
  • Technical coaching and training of new delivery team members
  • Understands the application and the platform components
  • Defines an architecture that leverages the platform
  • Creates requirements for both platform development and application specific software
  • Participate in release content discussion – estimates
