About The Position

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ER RN) provides immediate and comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening conditions. This role involves rapid patient assessment, triage, stabilization, and coordination with emergency physicians and multidisciplinary teams in a high-acuity emergency care environment. The ER RN is responsible for delivering care to both adult and pediatric patients , ensuring timely treatment, patient safety, and effective communication throughout the emergency care process.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – New York State .
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of recent nursing experience within the past two years in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and emergency response skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency department .

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers .
  • Experience using Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR) .
  • Previous experience caring for both adult and pediatric emergency patients .

Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid patient triage and clinical assessments in an emergency care setting.
  • Provide nursing care to adult and pediatric patients presenting with acute conditions.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and emergency treatments according to physician orders.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond quickly to critical or life-threatening situations .
  • Assist with trauma resuscitations and emergency procedures .
  • Collaborate with physicians, paramedics, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely patient care.
  • Perform procedures such as IV insertion, medication administration, and wound care .
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system .
  • Adhere to hospital protocols, infection control standards, and patient safety guidelines.
