The Employee Relations Intern is a part-time, non-exempt position located in the corporate headquarters office in Baton Rouge, LA. This position provides administrative support to the Employee Relations Department. This position reports to the Employee Relations Manager. Incumbent into this position will work under close supervision and will follow mainly pre-established guidelines that are clerical in nature. While this position is entry level and mostly involves administrative duties, it is a great opportunity to be exposed to the functions of an Employee Relations Department including recognition, corrective action, investigations, exit surveys, data analysis, engagement and inclusivity. Job responsibilities are as follows:

Requirements

  • Ideal candidate will be in their Junior or Senior year working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field and have a schedule that will allow for working a minimum of 20 hours a week.
  • Desire to work in Employee Relations or in a HR Generalist position in a growing company
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (strong skills required), PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office Products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented and an ability to be resourceful when necessary
  • Must pass a credit check, criminal Background check and a drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Performs monthly and quarterly reporting for the department
  • Processes and files performance management and recognition documentation
  • Assists with processing exit interviews
  • Monitors and assists with department mailbox
  • Provides assistance in investigations as needed
  • Responds to employee inquiries as needed
  • Assists with current and new initiatives (i.e., engagement, inclusivity)
  • Other duties as assigned
