About The Position

Pair Team is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to own the company’s formal employee relations processes and help ensure a fair, consistent, and legally compliant employee experience as we scale. This role will serve as the specialized partner for high-risk and procedurally complex people matters, including workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, accommodations, and attendance intervention for non-exempt employees. The Employee Relations Specialist will work closely with People Business Partners, who remain the primary strategic partner and day-to-day point of contact for managers. In contrast, the Employee Relations Specialist will step in as the subject matter expert and process owner when issues escalate into formal ER work. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, can operate calmly through ambiguity and sensitive situations, and brings both strong generalist instincts and deep experience with formal employee relations processes. This is a fully remote position reporting to the Manager, People Business Partners.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of HR experience, including significant hands-on experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, and formal performance processes (Required)
  • Strong experience managing formal disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, and employee documentation with a high degree of consistency and sound judgment
  • Deep working knowledge of ADA, PWFA, FMLA, leave-related processes, and the interactive process
  • Strong understanding of employment law, compliance risk, and best practices related to investigations, accommodations, discipline, and documentation
  • Solid HR generalist foundation with comfort navigating employee relations, compliance, leave, attendance, and policy interpretation
  • Experience operating in a startup, high-growth, or fast-changing environment where processes may still be evolving
  • Ability to move quickly, execute with precision, and stay composed through shifting priorities and sensitive issues
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, defensible, and well-organized case files and employee-facing documents
  • Ability to partner effectively with PBPs and leaders while maintaining role clarity, neutrality, and procedural consistency
  • Strong judgment around when to escalate, when to advise, and how to balance employee experience with business risk
  • Experience using case trackers, dashboards, or other systems to manage ER volume and timelines
