This posting is for an Energy Analyst who will acquire, analyze, and visualize electric utility data to support Austin Energy’s rate design work, regulatory filings, and policy objectives. The role combines quantitative and qualitative research. Quantitative work includes analyzing large datasets—such as customer load profiles, billing records, demographic information, and usage trends—using database querying languages to support cost‑of‑service modeling, periodic data reporting, and internal and external information requests. Qualitative work involves reviewing academic research, industry publications, and regulatory filings to interpret findings and inform recommendations. Together, these efforts ensure that rate proposals are data‑driven, financially stable, and aligned with community priorities. In addition to strong analytical skills, the ideal candidate will bring research experience and a working understanding of utility finance to support both revenue recovery and rate design.
