About The Position

Provide technical and engineering assistance Memphis Light Gas and Water essential commercial customers. The Energy Engineer 3 Key Accounts builds and maintains partnerships with commercial and industrial customers, identifies growth opportunities and solves technical challenges as a member of the Key Accounts team within Economic & Business Development. Deliver programs to benefit customers and drive success in the Nation’s largest three service public utility.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license from state of residence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial or civil engineering.
  • Must have six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in engineering for industry or utilities and background in some combination of the following experience which includes\: application of physics, thermodynamics, electricity, operations research or process technology.
  • Exposure to finance, marketing, economics or sales.
  • Background in customer service industry.
  • Must successfully complete NIMS Training within 1 year of entering job.
  • Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds or more of force on a regular basis.
  • Customer-focus, time-management, peer-relationships and collaboration, problem-solving with\: Ability to oversee complex and ever-changing projects and processes.
  • Ability to identify, understand and explain financial and development assistance, quickly learn terminology and principles of public electricity, gas and water utilities.
  • Ability to identify issues, think creatively and define new solutions and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Apply senior level engineering principles and customer engagement skills to technical assistance for commercial and industrial projects.
  • Serve as a liaison to a portfolio of approximately 50 customer accounts.
  • Facilitate, draft and execute agreements for electric, gas and water service.
  • Design, evaluate and implement special projects which involves demand-side management, rates, industrial processes, operations research and TVA services.
  • Oversee contingency and crisis plans that have an impact on customers.
  • Drive utility and business resiliency efforts by assisting customers with utility management and conservation.
  • Coordinate customer engineering and construction projects as an MLGW liaison between builders, architects, and other partners.
  • Analyze, evaluate and make recommendations on expansion plans, construction documents, mechanical equipment upgrades, component changes, and insulation systems.
  • Perform utility rate studies and staying abreast of equipment advancements, regulatory changes, FERC rulings, and other industry knowledge.
  • Make presentations to management, the Board and customers ad needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
