Nice To Haves

  • Three years as Environmental Engineer in a manufacturing organization subject to ISO 14001 requirements (preferred)
  • Experience leading to knowledge of Industrial hygiene and the development and implementation of plant wide training systems (preferred).
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Chemical Engineering with environmental emphasis (preferred)
  • ISO 14001 Audit training (preferred)
  • In special circumstances, candidates who have not met the required education, but have substantial manufacturing work experience that is applicable to the job may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provides chemical information expertise to all plant personnel.
  • Prepares information and completes all required EPA permit applications.
  • Manages all EPA interactions including air, land and water division inspections.
  • Maintains operating records in accordance with Nascote’s EPA and DOT permits.
  • Maintains Material Safety Data Sheet program.
  • Stays current with federal regulations, especially where Nascote processes are directly involved.
  • Trains employees in the proper handling and disposal of chemicals, including PPE requirements and use.
  • Develops and institutes testing programs for industrial hygiene and potential hazards to people. (e.g. welding fumes, formaldehyde, solvents, ISO, etc).
  • Investigates recycling opportunities/requirements and/or pollution prevention methods.
  • Leads the effort for ISO 14001 registration and manages the process to maintain registration.
  • Acts as a process environmental consultant to all areas of the plant.
  • Performs environmental and 5S audits.
  • Leads the emergency preparedness effort to develop and maintain emergency systems throughout the facility.
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record.
  • Complies with and maintains OEM materials identification requirements.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Participates in department meetings.
  • Completes documentation of activities as required.
  • Submits cost reduction / Ideas Pay and innovation ideas.
  • Serves as a back-up for the Safety Engineer.
  • Assists the health and safety staff with various projects, audit preparations, and priorities.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Assists and provides oversight to the Waste Team for the bulk solvent tank operations such as pumping solvent wastes to the tanker track as well as unloading bulk virgin solvent from the tank when the Maclellan Supervisor is out of the plant.
